Naval Base Ventura County

NBVC is major shore warfighting platform; providing sustained ready forces to deploy, fight, and win. Composed of three operating facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island and home of the Pacific Seabees, West Coast E-2D Hawkeyes, 3 warfare centers and 110 tenant commands.

NAVFAC Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command logo

NAVFAC EXWC contributes engineering expertise in shore infrastructure, expeditionary systems, energy, and ocean facilities—the foundations needed to support emerging technologies.

Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division logo

Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division brings weapons and aircraft systems expertise, instrumentation, and demanding test-and-evaluation environments to advance airborne autonomy and integrated capabilities.

NAVSEA Warfare Centers Port Hueneme logo

NAVSEA's Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division contributes shipboard systems integration, in-service engineering, and sustainment expertise, connecting innovation to the practical requirements of the surface Fleet.

FATHOMWERX logo — octopus emblem

FATHOMWERX extends that enterprise into the public-private innovation community, connecting small and non-traditional companies, academic institutions, and defense stakeholders with challenging military, port, and maritime problems. Its on-base lab near NAVSEA builds on several years of collaboration, while its main laboratory at the neighboring Port of Hueneme provides 20,000 square feet for testing, prototyping, and innovation, plus 40,000 square feet of flexible space for demonstrations, events, and exercises.

Through a collaborative that includes the Economic Development Collaborative, Matterlabs, NAVSEA, NAVFAC, and the Port of Hueneme, FATHOMWERX helps connect entrepreneurial ideas with Navy technical expertise and opportunities for experimentation. This combination of established relationships, nearby facilities, operational experience, and industry participation gives MAB a powerful advantage: the ability to bring the right people together to develop, test, refine, and advance solutions for the Fleet.

ANTX — Advanced Naval Technology Exercise logo

ANTX connects government, industry, academia, and fleet operators through technology demonstrations and field experimentation. Its events give innovators direct operational feedback while allowing warfighters to assess emerging technologies before investment decisions.

This collaborative approach supports autonomous-system development, reduces risk ahead of larger fleet exercises, and informs the transition of useful capabilities to the warfighter.

The Port of Hueneme — Oxnard Harbor District logo

The Port of Hueneme, ranked among the top 10 U.S. ports for automobiles and fresh produce, also distinguishes itself through its commitment to innovation. In 2019, it announced a partnership with Economic Development Collaborative, Matter Labs, and Naval Base Ventura County/NAVSEA to bring together a network of leading academic, research, test & evaluation, and in-service engineering centers to further expand the nation's ability to provide solutions to relevant challenges in the maritime domain.

County of Ventura Department of Airports logo

The County of Ventura Department of Airports owns and manages Camarillo and Oxnard airports, bringing aviation infrastructure and operational expertise to the region's innovation community.

Through partnerships with FATHOMWERX, NBVC, and educational institutions, the department is helping develop opportunities for advanced air mobility, uncrewed aircraft testing, and workforce training—extending the partnership's capabilities beyond the installation.

Regional Defense Partnership — RDP Community logo

RDP is Ventura County's community-based organization that advocates for and supports the county's military facilities and defense contractors as community assets and essential to national defense. It's a working partnership that includes elected officials from the County of Ventura and the 10 cities in the county, as well as retired federal and state political leaders, senior military officials, defense contractors, local colleges, and others.

RDP supports, advocates, and facilitates among the military, private enterprise, and government to preserve Ventura County's military assets and regional economy.

Area 805 — Ventura County Advanced Air Mobility Test Range logo

Area 805 encompasses 500 square miles of FAA-authorized airspace over Camarillo, Oxnard, and the Ventura County coastline.

Operated through the Department of Airports' partnership with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the range is designed to support uncrewed aircraft and advanced air mobility testing for commercial and defense partners—complementing NBVC's capabilities with coastal and over-water flight-testing opportunities.
